How to show loading files on startup

I previously had a computer that would hang on boot, and during the process of fixing it I changed my startup process to show what files were loading individually instead of it just saying "starting windows". I think I changed something in the registry?

I have a new computer now, and would like to set it to do that again, but I completely forget how I did it and googling for an answer only brings up variations of "how to remove programs from startup".

    Hello Millene,

The tutorial below can help show you how to turn on or off showing the "OS boot information".

You can find what programs are loading at startup by doing the following:

    [1] Click Start.
[2] Type msconfig in the search box and press Enter.
    [3] Click the Startup tab.

    I hope this helps!

Paul, you didn't understand what I was asking.

Brink, that wasn't exactly what I meant, but that's good to know. I mean during the windows splash screen where it says things like "please wait" and "welcome" it would show what files were loading instead. The boot info you led me to looks more like when it's loading during safe mode.
