Has anyone started a thread dedicated to 0Patch?
OPatch is discussed in this thread, also a number of options other than staying with 7. Many users have contributed information.
What should we do after January 2020

Rolling updates are bad when they get them wrong. But in principle, it's nice to know that our OS is kept up to date. Didn't we always get updates when needed with previous versions?
Eventually, I guess when they reached their limit a new Windows version was issued. I think I have owned every one since a very early one that ran on an Apple ][e !

Privacy issues? With an Android phone and Google/Chrome, isn't it a no-win situation? I have a VPN - maybe I should actually use it

You at least got me to Google (????) the subject. I see some links upthread. I found this one: How to protect your privacy in Windows 10 | Computerworld Too much to take in right now, but I will get to it.

Yes, but we do what we can. I imagine that I allow less data harvesting than most. BTW, DuckDuckGo is the search engine I use. Google not only filters results, they collect data too. In a big way.

Thanks for the link, but that guide just shows you how to turn off the settings Win 10 provides, but MS allows no way to turn off data collection entirely, just limit it. And , although MS says that with those settings turned off, they no longer track your activity, I'm not sure they can be trusted to be truthful. After all, they're in business to make money. If they're giving the product away, how do you think they're making money?

Yes, there are apps available, but who knows if they are as effective as the app developers say? Until there is a definitive way to turn off or block all tracking and data collection, and a way to verify it, I'm staying away as long as possible. I will be setting up a win 10 test machine only.
