Windows 7: Computer lockup, sometimes temporary, sometimes audio distortion

Tried both the AODDriver 4.20 fix and the IE fix, just had another freeze it wouldn't let me come back from earlier. (2 regular shut-downs and start ups later)

Again still no event logs at the time of the freeze. One warning about 50 minutes before freeze occurred.

It could be that the hardware is just finally starting to die on me, I believe this machine was built around 2011-2012, so it's kinda old, and I know several components aren't being officially supported anymore. I guess I'll either try a comp repair shop to see if they can figure which part might be dying (I think in another thread dsperber suspected motherboard) or I'll just save and back-up often.

Well, I'm at a loss other than hardware like you said. You could try uninstalling AVG and see what happens, but that may not be the issue.

I'd have to sit at your computer to see what's going on.

If you go to a PC shop, make sure they are reputable and know what they are doing. I wouldn't use Geek Squad.

Well, while it certainly isn't a fix, as I had another big audio-freeze the other night, I have since moved my mouse usb away from the keyboard usb and that seems to help. Before they were right beside each other. I haven't had one of the minor lock-ups since doing that so perhaps this was just one of the issues. (I still suspect I need a new motherboard and am going to look into that though.)
