Most individuals will not have the opportunity to pay for extended support. Even if one could, I still wouldn't pay for it. MS is not going to get a single penny from me.

    Hi acres1300,

I agree with Lady Fitzgerald. To be honest, if you have a problem in the future you can always come back to SevenForums!

Support? , have you ever sat and read their forums? The best is when they suggest something, reply is I tried that already, and they just keep repeating the same answer lol.

NO. For one thing the prices I've read $50/$100/$200 is for those businesses with money to spend on a multi volume license and have a few computers that for some unforeseeable reason they can't put on 10. IF they made it available to the average consumer it would likely be far higher. Two, I'm not putting on updates now because of the new model and the issues going on with updates. Three, I don't want to give M$ any more money. I have alternatives.

If I owned a business or was a systems administrator - probably.

If the option were available to home/private users - probably not.

No way. Simply put, Microsoft support means absolutely NOTHING to the working of Windows, it'll continue to work in the very same way as it's now.

For updates, they're simply not necesary for normal usage, and more often than not they end up breaking something, or including something malicious. There must be a strong reason for me to download an update, specially since the "rollup" model they've adopted, when we cannot decide what to install.

As for the MS "support" itself, I still have to know anyone that ever sent a message and got a positive response in return. All their forums, bug trackers and the like are full of canned answers basically asking me to downgrade to Windows 10 or something along the lines.

Not to mention that the quality of their programs is constantly dropping. Skype is a disaster since the MS takeover, Office is slower than ever, Windows is a joke tablet OS with bundled spyware, and to add insult to the injury, their TOS is an open violation of many international privacy laws, not to mention to etics.

Why would I pay them for more of that?

I might be going against the grain a bit but I don't want to use 8.1 or Linux at this point, and don't care for 10.
At the current price a big fat no. 5$ maybe 10$ a year for the security updates, that I can choose, maybe.
If I was a greedy MS greenback turd realizing they have already committed to publishing them, I would then think about all the revenue they are ignoring. 5$ isn't much but x 30% of the market, what they wouldn't want that?
