    Recycle Bin not Emptying

The recycle bins works just as it should, except when clicking on 'Empty the Recycle Bin' it doesn't. The button shows it has been pressed, but no delete. I can right click and select 'Delete' that works. If I select to delete without going through the bin that also works, but not via 'Empty the Recycle Bin'. I've tried the following:

    1. Deleted $Recycle.Bin

    2. Open in Safe mode and deleted $Recycle.Bin
    3. Used rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.Bin
    4. Used sfc / scannow
    5. Run a virus check
    6. Used Ccleaner

    None of the above worked.

Has anyone got any thoughts of where to try next. Thanks.

    Hello Alan613733

    Welcome to Seven Forums!

I see your issue is the Recycle Bin is not emptying, and you have already tried a few solutions, which have not worked for you.

My suggestion is, had you tried the System File Checker (SFC)? Type sfc /scannow at an elevated command prompt?

Thanks for the reply, but as you see from my list of things tried that's one of them. I should also add to the list, I've tried some of the windows fix it utilities.

Yes. What was the result of the SFC scan? Had it fixed any files? Did it produce a log file? Sometimes you need to reboot the computer for changes to take effect, after a SFC scan.

As I've said it didn't fix the problem even after a reboot. I didn't find any logs from running it.

Sometimes SFC cannot repair all files automatically. It is important to check the log file that SFC produces, in order to see if anything can be fixed manually.

At an elevated command prompt, type:
    Code:
    findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"
that will create a file on the desktop, called sfcdetails.txt. Create this file and upload it to this thread in another post.
