I will, but that looks like a long time coming. Just what do you have in mind, Roy, for “playing around”? When s/m or someone else has solved this problem, as far as I’m concerned it’s period – full stop. If you are just curious I can run some diagnostics for you once in a while, but I hope you will understand why I’m not interested in hosting a lab for W.U. experiments.

Now on the other hand, if s/m fails to cure this curious problem where everything works perfectly except W.U. and you want a crack at it, I will gladly have you be my guest.

Just found out on a different thread that, according to what an administrator with the handle Brink posted in August 2018, “Support for Windows 7 will end on January 14, 2020. Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for devices running Windows 7 operating systems. That’s why it’s time to make the shift to Windows 10 today.” So that time limits how long I will be interested in fixing my W.U. problems. After the Jan 2020 date I, “Won’t give a monkey’s”, to quote the Brits. Not that I will upgrade to Windows 10 at that time.

At any rate, it's time to further inquiries into the entire health of my registry and other system components to my other thread, Report On Multiple Windows Update Failures from Dec 2018 On. Please, will some administrator close this thread?
