    Need Help Pls New To PC

    So full disclaimer I have been using Macs for the past decade or so and I have completely forgotten how to use a PC. I have spent hours looking up how to solve my problem but maybe I'm not asking the right questions as nothing seems to work...I am running out of space on my hard drive so I downloaded a program called WizTree to see what was taking up all the space. I will include a screen shot below. But i just want to know where the 140+ gigs are that I can't seem to find are. I have spent the last day and a half researching and running different programs and nothing seems to work. I am officially stumped any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi VagrantV-

    I must be missing something. The disk space used and disk space free add up to the total space on the disk.

    Perhaps you would enlighten me.

    But it says my c drive is only taking up 76.4GB in the tree view, but the space used is at 222.1GB in the overview. So where is the other 140GB that it isn't showing? Like i said it's been over a decade since i have regularly used a PC so if i am missing something super obvious pls forgive me.

    Welcome to the forum. You have over 20 gigs of movies but you still have 70 gig free. Run windows disk clean see how much you have after you clean that. What files do you have in c:\

    @samuria Thank you

    I ran disk clean up and it only freed up about 85mb. I'm not really sure what you mean by what files are on c:\ isn't that what WhizTree is showing?

    @samuria

    Yes I have a YouTube cooking channel and I switched back to PC specifically for editing video. So yes mostly movie projects or videos that I am working on. Nothing really stays on the laptop though I generally either erase or transfer to an external drive after I am done editing and uploading. I just am trying to keep this laptop as clean and free of space as possible.

    VagrantV, you might try hovering your mouse over the large green and yellow spaces on the block map, and a tooltip should tell you what occupies those spaces.

    But I'm not optimistic that's going to help much because I think what's in the block map may only be the 76.4 GB the TreeView tab has scanned. I do see what you're saying, though -- where's the other rest of the 222.1 GB of "Space Used" beyond the 76.4 GB shown in the TreeView and block map? I wonder if it's in System Restore points. You might try checking there to see how much space you've allocated to restore points.

    For this sort of detective work, I've long been a fan of SpaceMonger or SpaceSniffer, as I find them easier to make sense of. You might try one of those to see how they agree with WizTree's figures.

    When you run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility, it tells you how much free space it can recover. However, check the boxes for Temporary Files and Empty Recycle Bin. Then run it and reboot, when it's finished. It won't tell you how much space it will recover when you make those additional selections but it should be much larger.
