Make a Windows live CD with applications

How would I create my own Windows 7 live CD with my own added applications?

I have created my own personal WIM through Windows Audit Mode. It does everything. Two issues I faced were I couldn't install updates via Windows updates and I couldn't install drivers because the installers won't recognize the compatible hardware. I solved both of these issues with MSMG toolkit. Integrating the updates and drivers into the WIM.

So this will allow me to create a live version of Windows 7 with my applications I want to add to it?

Yep. But don't forget to test your ISO in Virtual Machine first. There's a lot that can go wrong. When I started doing this, I realized Microsoft never cared to organize Windows components and the way modules interact with each other, create dependencies, you wouldn't know unless you extensively test it out before a live deployment.

Edit: To install the applications, you need to boot into Audit mode, Install your applications and seal the image. For the applications that are installed for user specific you need to "copy profile" the temporary Admin profile used in the Audit mode with an answer file.

How do you boot into Audit mode?

I do use VMware Workstation Player so that wouldn't be an issue. Could I actually some how build the image, boot it into VMware, add my applications, change the desktop background and what not than seal the image somehow for live deployment?

I've never done this before. Is there some tutorial out there?

These might help =>

[1] New Installation: How to Create a General System Image in Audit Mode.
[2] Windows 7 Image - Customize in Audit Mode with Sysprep.

I hope this helps!

Hi F22 Simpilot,

Of course, if you pre-install added applications, they will be the current versions available at the time of installation. You will still need to check for the availability of new versions periodically!

That's a massive amount of information to look over. I'll see if I can't do this. A long time ago I used Bart's Boot disk something or other with XP and it was relatively simple.
