I need information how to remove specific windows updates

Good Morning, As alot of you, i have had the update issues with 2 windows updates.(KB4493472)
    (KB890830)

While I now know the problem, and have fixed my PC, I need information on how to remove the two offending updates:

    1) remove them from the list on "windows Update"

    and

    2) How to prevent them from re-appearing at a later date and causing me the same grief.

I currently have my Windows Update off, and as soon as i reboot my machine tells me there are updates waiting and the two bad one are there again, waiting to cause problems and I do not want to leave my update off, thus my question,

    Thanks in advance.

Go to the list of updates and mark them "hide" with right mouse click.

Morning all, well that seemed to work. You can still see the updates, though they are greyed out and I have left the updates on manual. I will put them back to automatic today. Just wondering about one update which i pasted the details below:

2019-04 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4493472)

    Installation date: ‎4/‎10/‎2019 7:39 AM

    Installation status: Failed

    Error details: Code 800F0816

Does anyone have info on this update, like is it safe to try to install now? Can installing it by itself be OK? Will it cause any security holes if I don't install it?

    MetalMan228,

have a look at this post:

    Windows 7: April 9, 2019 - KB4493472 (Monthly Rollup) for Windows 7

I have it on my Pro Ed with no probs yet. If it fails installing with Windows Update try the stand alone package "Microsoft Update Catalog" furnished in the link above.

    Thank you for the link.

While I have neither Sophos or Avira on this PC it was either this update or the one for the installed Defender AV update that causes my PC to hang upon start up. Since Microsoft has currently no resolution as of 4-12 I will not install either. This is what I needed to know!
