    Fast Custom Windows 7 Edition

People are making custom windows 7 editions like what I've heard a nimax edition? Anyway is there a custom / modded version of windows 7 that is faster? Like it automatically disabled unneeded services? I don't know if it is illegal or not, let me know.

Anyone can make a custom Win 7 install and use it as long as they have a valid Product Key for it!

In order to do this you need to be an advanced user who knows exactly what everything does and the knock on effects of the changes that you make!

I have made custom installs for Vista and Win 7 and it takes more than one attempt to get a system that is stable and running smoothly!

A custom Win 7 edition CANNOT be distributed because it is ILLEGAL under the terms of Microsoft!

    I hope this helps!

I thought that as long as you don't distribute a custom installation with a product key or crack, it is legal? I've seen Windows XP custom editions where the creator has explicitly stated that it's legal, noting that no copyrighted software is bundled, and it requires a valid Windows XP product key to use.

The other point to make here would be that you don't really know what else they have included in the custom OS, i.e. viruses, malware, anything really. It is just not worth the risk in my opinion!

This is often true with low-quality made distributions, like Windows 7 Genius Edition (actually a modified Windows XP). But I've found that there are real, trustworthy, legal custom Windows installations available for download.

That's fair enough. I personally like to know that what I am using is genuine. Believe me, not everyone has been as lucky as you have!

Yeah, if you want to be sure, use original Windows.
