Nice pic's! Did that RAD come damaged??

Just a bit. I checked for leaks and there were none, just a few bent fins on the rad itself. so I popped it in - worked (and still works) great.

Man that's too bad. Well as long as it work as your happy with it that's all that counts. It's a nice machine!
    Feeling just a little envious...

The hardest part is for people who buy new hardware and are unable to get device drivers running on the older OSs. My machine was built in 2011, and while I've upgraded some components, namely video card and internal storage, the bulk of what I have can actually still be used on Win7.

However, I prefer WinX to Win7 - the backend stuff alone makes WinX more than worth it. I have all tiles turned off, using a start menu that is similar in look and function to Win7, but the enhancements made to things like Task Manager make 3rd party solutions not be a necessity any longer, just a convenience. The enhancements to other facets, like the Windows File Explorer (copying / moving files, detecting duplicates, etc.) make it a godsend over the old Win7 Explorer and it's sheer lack of usability when encountering duplicate file names, much less show extremely little information on progress bars when copying / moving.

To each his / her own. I'll take the backend enhancements over the older limited OS any day.

As for installation metrics, if you look just at June 2019, you get Operating system market share

Classic Shell does all that more easily. I've made 7 look like XP, which I had originally fixed to look like Win98, with a few improvements.

But it also runs as an additional process. And I'm on WinX - on a Core i7 965 EE with 12 GB RAM.

Anything less running is a good thing. So I do it myself.

I'm sure there are many advantages to running WinX. But the appearance and behavior of the GUI is just not to my liking. Okay, I've messed about with changing its appearance with umpteen fixes and add-ons, but it still looks insipid and washed out. The brightness, weak colors and lack of contrast offend me

And every time I check out a YouTube video that was recorded on WinX, the screens are so bland I have trouble understanding what's going on.

Now, if WinX could be made to look, and behave, exactly the same as W7, I wouldn't hesitate to get onboard.

That's the point of the first post of this thread and is true of the system I'm typing on right now.
