Windows 7 bootleg copy on my machine
I'm getting a popup notice telling me that the copy of Windows 7 is not a genuine program. Can Install a good copy of Windows 7 over the one I am using now or will it screw up my computer?

Hi Ronargus,
NOTE: The light blue text below are links to the relevant websites and programs, just click them!
MGADiag - Check If Your Version Of Windows Is Genuine
Download and run the MGADiag.exe [Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic] Tool [direct download] => MGADiag Tool.
The MGADiag Tool provides detailed information about the Microsoft Genuine Advantage components and settings on your system. MGADiag.exe can be used to analyze and troubleshoot a non-genuine notification issue you may be experiencing.
Simply download the tool, run the MGADiag.exe, and click Continue. It will immediately tell you if your version of Win 7 is Genuine or not.
The M$ tool however, does not automatically create a log file. What you can do though, is click the COPY button and then PASTE it into notepad and SAVE it. You then need to either paste the output into your post [preferable], or upload the saved log file [see below].
Additional and more detailed information on the MGADiag [Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool] can be found here => Check if your version of Windows is Genuine.
MGADiag Tool - Posting Instructions
Can you post the output from this tutorial [you need to read Post #4 in the tutorial so you can post the log] => Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions. The output log will allow us to help you if you have a Windows non-genuine and/or activation issue.
I hope this helps!
Microsoft updates sometimes generates a false positive result and your genuine product key may get expired. so windows 7 shows a "Not Genuine Error". If you've got this "Not Genuine Error" after updating windows, then follow these steps to fix this error.
1. Go to Start then Control Panel.
2. Click on Windows Update At the bottom of the control panel.
3. Click View Installed Updates, It’ll open a list of installed updates.
4. Find an update called KB971033 and uninstall it by double-clicking on it.
Now Restart the system. You shouldn't get the not genuine error again. But when windows updates again! The problem will come up again. So consider disabling Windows updates and do your update manually and selectively.
If you are still getting the error there is another option you can use. You can run SLMGR from an elevated command prompt. I'm going to ask before I post that info. Anyway try the above option and let us know if it work.
Hi
Just post the results of the log, I'll look it over
Also be advised its possibly an indicater that the OS has been infected, or more likely a scam
post a screenshot if you can
MS non-genuine notice appears in bottom right hand corner, and your background changes
@Lance1
Removing that KB doesnt address the reason, just doesnt flag it.
As and when you say its a false /positive these tend to come up in specific circumstances and tend to cover groups, as happened not so long ago with the KMS activation problem
One-Offs are a diifferent kettle of fish.
Also removing that KB changes how the Mgadiag reports
If this relates to your earlier 2 threads
I REALLY NEED TO SEE THE OUTPUT
