I was able to burn a dvd without the windows dvd maker and it worked, however it will not play on a dvd player, only a computer.

I just burned a dvd without windows dvd maker and it worked, however it can not play on my dvd player, only the computer

That's because whatever you used to burn it with, burned a data disc instead of a DVD-Video disc. In other words, it just copied your file to disc.

I thought you meant you tried all those variations using the DVD Maker.

I still haven't found out if it creates a log file.

Can't burn DVDs anymore

So i bought an external dvd burner and it does make it further in the encoding process, but still says "an error occurred when burning the dvd"

Could it be the windows dvd maker program? can I uninstall it and be able to install again because it came installed on the computer? Would this even help?

What antivirus you have? Can you disable it till next boot?
