Moving a window forces it to maximise but it's not Aero Snap.

Whenever I try to arrange my windows (i.e. have file explorer in one corner and say word in the opposite) as soon as a click on the title bar the monitor is outlined in green and a one appears in the middle of the screen and as soon as I release the click the window maximises. This is not a result of aero snapping and I would still like to keep the ability to move a window to the top or side of a monitor and have it maximize/half fill respectively. I have tried the setting in ease of access centre to prevent the windows arranging and this does not do anything at all.

Any ideas?

Hi mk123, welcome to seven forums.

It sounds like you have installed on the computer some kind of desktop screen splitting software, like WinSplit, GridVista or Screen+.

I would search through Control Panel > Programs and Features for such an installed program.

Try doing start > run > msconfig > startup and unchecking everything, rebooting, then see if the symptoms are still there. You may have a program running that causes this. TitleBarClock is a program that has a setting to do this for instance.

Or you might have a mouse hardware problem. Try another mouse and see if the issue changes, or try using your touchpad buttons if you have them. If you don't have another mouse or a touchpad, try changing the settings of the mouse so the left and right mouse buttons are reversed, then see if a right-click produces the same symptoms.

Can't Resize Window or use Aero Snap with Explorer
As the title says. I was messing around with some custom themes (I know, I know, but I'm pretty familiar with the process and I try to take extra precautions) and for what seems like no reason, I cannot resize Explorer (not IE, the actual file explorer) windows and if I attempt to use Aero Snap,...

Aero Snap problem
I am having a minor trouble with the Aero snap feature. When using certain applications (Word, Skype) I am able to maximize the window by dragging the window to the top - but I am not able to restore it by dragging it down, it stays put. I have to hit the restore button on the top right corner...
