Windows 7: Notification icons not showing after "Hibernate"

Notification icons not showing after "Hibernate"

I use "Hibernate" when it is inconvenient to close a lot of files (mostly TXT files) and webpages.
This can go on for several days until my research/project is complete and the laptop is "Shut Down"

In Hibernate mode, when the PC is woken up (power button) several installed tools simply do not appear in system tray nor hidden in the transitional (System.tray) Customize list.

My current workaround is a shortcut to the probem prog.EXE file.
When clicked, a msg appears telling me the app is already running.
So why is the program icon not showing (hidden or visible) in the system tray, despite being set as "Show icon and notifications" ?

To rectify this inconvenience ...
1. Use Task Manager to "End Process" of the prog.EXE
2. run the prog.EXE shortcut
... and all is good again, icon is where it is supposed to be.
Repeating the process for all the no-shows.

I know the sys.tray cache is vulnerable to corruption over time (I use Brinks fix to clear the cache), but then I have the tedium of changing all "Behavior" settings in the "Notification Area Icons" again.

Would appreciate some help, thank you :)

Did you mean this one => Notification Area Icons - Reset?

If not, it might be worth a look!

Hi Paul
Yes I do.

What I do not understand is why do some Notification Area Icons - disappear after Sleep or Hibernate.
Is this normal for Win-7 or does my setup have a gremlin in the works trying to annoy me ?

I don't use Hibernation because of the impact it has so I can't comment on that.
As far as Sleep is concerned, I don't get the notification area icons disappearing.
Perhaps somebody else will be able to enlighten you, sorry!

I have not heard of prog.exe and google isn't saying much about it unless you are using CA-associates' software. What happens if you kill prog.exe, then hibernate, then wake up?

I think he was using that term as a generic reference to whatever software he is using.
