Wake up from Hibernation takes two times?

When I'm going into Hibernation everything is fine....but when I wake up from it it takes to black screen where a white underscore (_) flashes and nothing else happens. But it will work when I hold the power button when that happens, the laptop will turn off I turn it back on and it comes back from Hibernation....What's Wrong?

Which will I need to update? I do not want to update some drivers as I have had blue screens because of them. I want to make sure that I need them.

All of them - and make sure you choose the right x86 or x64 drivers.

It is possible that the Hiberfile is corrupted.

You will need to show hidden files.

I am not sure this will work in 7, I haven't had to deal with this in 7 yet.
Go into your power settings and disable hibernation. Reboot.
The hiberfile should go away from the c: drive. If not,, delete it.
Go back in to the power settings and set up hibernation again. Reboot and then try it.

The way I do it is different. I boot My BartPE flash drive and just delete the Hiberfile and reboot. This is kinda technical to build. But, you could try UBCD4Win

You may try booting to Safe Mode and see if you can just delete the Hiberfile from there.

I did what you said and still having a problem...Even restarted my computer each time..I even tried that command prompt line: powercfg -h off. Then I restarted. Then: powercfg -h on. Then restarted and I still have to turn it off the first time.

Hibernate has always had a bit of a problem on some systems.
It is not an inherent problem with Windows Specifically.
it's a combination of Windows and some hardware and/or software.
Driver updates, from the manufacturer directly (not compaq specifically either), not through Windows Updates, might help.

What I mean is, that your Mobo (Wistron 3612) is a n intel based board. If you can figure out which model it is based off of, you might be able to get drivers direct from Intel that work better than the hacked up ones from HP/Compaq. or I should say they MIGHT work. This also applies to all other hardware, including the on-board sound if that is what you have.

Also check for a BIOS update.

When you turned off Hibernate,, did you check for the hiberfile.sys and delete it if found?
