If Windows notification "engine" is broken, the above way not work.
...and the sky will fall? I know there's an update 2nd Tues of the month, and I know which programs are outdated, and I have a reason for that. I check Task Mger now and then to see if my A-V and firewall are running and whether there are any unknown processes running.

I have noticed this on several systems - one in particular is a Toshiba Sattelite A505-S6980 - where I "Customize" the icons that appear in the system tray.

When I activate the “Show hidden icons” button on the taskbar the pop up menu appears. However, when I move the cursor to activate any one of the icons the pop-up menu then disappears.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem before & resolved the issue?

I guest this is for possible removing USB sticks from USB slots.
