One can also cover the laptop webcam - unless one uses any one of many utilities that will turn cam off and leave it off. This thread is so much fun, I learn a lot from all sides of the issue.

You'd be surprised how many webcams are compromised ...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone in recent pages has mentioned webcams? There's plenty else going on in 10 that would merit privacy concerns.

Well, wellcams, cameras built into laptops can be purposely "adjusted" -- a loss of privacy if that happens.

school district activated laptop cameras - Google Search

Anyway, if one is going to be concerned or worried about privacy loss or spyware (and other things) due to Windows Prime, one might as well cover the lens too.

And, yes, I too am one of those who will continue using Windows 7 for some time.

Barman, can't view the jpg until I get home, school firewall blocks it, I think. I'm being asked over and over to login or register before viewing jpg is possible. :)

Of course, meanwhile, since webcams can be hacked, I'm wondering if MICs can also be activated :) No matter, utilities that turn off and keep turned off lens and mics are available for those desiring them. I'm still staying with Windows 7 on my 2 laptops.

One of the options on my Bitdefender Total security monitors all background access to both the Webcam and Microphone, and any other Microphones I'm not sure what if any other security software has these options but it can give peace of mind

Unless Bitdefender is really a front for the CIA/NSA/MI5/MOSAD/FSB and they are secretly recording you, sending all the sensitive info on if you had beans with your toast or whatever you talked to yourself about today to some secret data farm buried under a mountain somewhere and will use this against you later in life.
