FWIW--my sfc /scannow either reports errors, and never can fix them, or it reports no errors when I know there are errors. I don;t think it's a good tool.

Hi Tinsby,

well that sorted a fair number of errors, lets see if @Snick has some of those missing manifests.

Here is what I have with search please download and extract
CheckSUR.zip
to say your Desktop then
copy to C:\Windows\Temp\
run System Update Readiness Tool and post CheckSUR.log again
I'll have to peruse the Web for the others. Probably a new KB or Cumulative.
Bill

placing the checksur folder in temp is where surt find the files from they are copied and they replace the offending/missing files and security permissions remain in tact VERY IMPORTANT

Paul, Roy, Bill and anyone else I may have missed, I have an answer to the erratic behavior of the cursor.

Whist experimenting with the computer I let my wife try and grab an icon and move it all around the desktop.

Lo and behold she was able to do it without a hitch, ( she is NOT a computer user at all ) So I tried the same motion and of course midway into it the icon dropped out of my 'grip'. What's going on?

Well if I make a concerted effort and really push down on the left mouse button I can move things normally too.

I suffer from an auto immune disease called PMR for short for Polymyalgiarheumatica, it attacks the arteries that supply blood and oxygen to the muscles. This disease isn't curable but it can be treated so it goes into remission, at least for 95% of the folks that have it. I am in the 5% and mine has come back again.

Now I realize why I don't have the fine control of my left mouse button the way I should.
This explains why the 'trouble' followed me to Linux Mint............ its the same finger on the mouse in both OS's. I am inadvertently letting go of the mouse button accidentally, although it feels like I am holding it down solidly.

So my W7 friends that's the story and I'm sticking to it maybe when the PMR gets under control again I will have better luck with the mouse. Right now I have to use workarounds to get things done, but it could be far worse, and ant least we all have an answer.

Thank you all very much for your interest in my troubles, I still think W7 was the best MS OS hands down and I will use it to the bitter end, and use Linux Mint in concert with W7.

Best wishes for the upcoming holidays and many thanks,

J Tinsby

Unable to drag drop to ZIP and RAR
Not sure if this is just a problem with Win x64 but unable to drag drop to either a ZIP or RAR file under explorer. Can drag and drop normal files to other folders/drives but when trying with a ZIP or RAR all I get is the line thru' the 0 - so a no go. Have a laptop with Win7 x86 and that works...
