My primary computer is the one with the keyboard problem. I am using my backup (wifes) computer for communication here. I did try to figure out how to load Malwarebytes because it is a good suggestion. But without being able to input text I couldn't figure out how to do it. Am I missing something here is there someway to load a new program with out using the keyboard?

I am using the new keyboard, mouse and receiver. I now believe that the original keyboard was not defective.
The reason I replaced it was that it was that I could input input text with the new keyboard. It stopped working after a couple hours and is still dead. Question--I've run two full scans and came up clean, is it safe to assume malware isn't the problem? What did you use to scan for malware? Wouldn't hurt to follow Paul Black' advise. |

The new keyboard worked for a short while then stopped inputting anything. This is why I didn't download Malwarebytes.
In post one you'll see that I ran the diagnostic program from f12-Its called ePSA Pre-Boot Assessment. I came up clean. |

It seems that your Win 7 is corrupted.
Boot from any installation disk, press Shift+F10 to open a command prompt window and type: diskpart list volume (to find out the letter assigned to windows partition) exit chkdsk X: /f (replace X with the letter found with list volume) Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc. If disk check doesn't find any problems, enter windows and do a repair install. |

I agree with Megahertz07. It could also be a problem USB port\driver (I assume the receiver for the wireless keyboard and mouse ls connected via USB to your system.) Now that I think about it, you might try connecting it to a different USB port. |

If you still need it:
Download MalwreBytes onto the working computer, carry it over on a flashdrive to the defective one and install it. No keyboard needed. If you don't need it anymore, you will in the future. |
