It has been a nice run...

...but it is time for me to say goodbye to all my cyber friends here and Seven Forums. With Win 7 reaching EOL in a week and me defecting from the entire Windows platform in favor of Linux, there is really nothing more I can contribute or learn here anymore, other than proselytizing Linux as a replacement for Win 7, which is not really the scope of Seven Forums although I'm grateful that the PTBs (Powers That Be) have let me get away with it so far.

With that said, I may drop in once in a great while but, for the most part, I'm leaving for keeps. I have nothing against the people here, including management (most of you all have been totally wonderful) or Seven Forums. It's just time for me to move on, same as many (actually, most) of us have moved on to (shudder) Win 10. Even if MS had a change of heart and announced that it will stop the current practices I, and many others of us, find so unacceptable (polite term), I can no longer trust MS. Period.

Goodbye and good luck to all of you, no matter how you decide to proceed after EOL. It was a good run and I'm going to miss it and you all..

Lol, wut gives? Just coz something is EOL u gonna ditch it for Linux?

My main PC is an expensive laptop I bought years ago still running Windows XP and connected to the internet. Did I get hacked or a virus all that time after EOL? Nope!!

Now I'm not one of those laymen who don't know nothing about comps. I've actually coded a C# .NET framework application almost 1MB in size after compiled...

Me still using XP online n u guys wanna ditch 7 just coz M$ decided no more updates?!?!

I hate to see you leave Jeannie.

We hope to see you over at www.tenforums.com for Windows 10 to help address any concerns and issues you may have with it.

Sorry to see you go! I plan on hanging around indefinitely. I still have W7 on 3 computers, two of which will be archives soon, but usable if need be. The other is my music computer, which I will keep going hopefully forever, updating to W10 only if absolutely necessary. I have Malwarebytes Pro on it, and I don't go online with it much.

As for Linux, I'm on Zorin Lite 15 now. My 10 old Gateway runs great on it. That's where I do most of my online work, which is minimal anyway, mostly a handful of forums related to computers or music. And email. I know you are much more of a power user, so I wish you luck on what will be a steeper learning curve than what I had to deal with. If light internet work is all you do, there are many Linux OS's that work great. It's a whole new world, and kind of liberating. Also, it helps those of us who are, well, getting up there (which includes me) to keep learning new things.

Good luck, and maybe we'll run into each other on a Linux forum!

I'll miss you. Maybe we'll meet again in the future at a Linux forum.

I tried Linux Mint, and when I tried to access my Gmail account from it, Gmail puked!
That was a real mess. I won't do that again!!!
That was just a test, and for me the test failed.

As I sit here at my Home-Made desktop PC, I have a little Acer One Netbook on my left, still running XP, and on my right I have an Acer Aspire Mini Desktop, (refurbished by me) running Windows 10/Pro/64.
Windows 7/Pro/x86 remains my Go To OS, and will remain so, till it melts down.
I have all the MS Updates shut OFF on all my PC's and it will remain so. So, EOS means absolutely Nothing to me.

    We'll miss your expertise, Lady.
Like we like to say, here in the south, "y'all come back now, Y'hear?"
