Windows Media Player-all music lost after update/upgrade

Hi,guys.Once again,I'm throwing myself on your mercy! A couple of weeks ago,I upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 up to W10. After 1 or 2 days I decided that I really didn't like it,so reverted back to W7. Since then,my Windows Media Player library is empty,BUT if I try to add Music to the library again,I'm getting the message,'Music is already in library',if I click on artists/music,nothing is there! It's a Catch 22 situation-Please help! Thanks in advance!

Hi fenderbender-

I'm not on my Win 7 system right now but go here-

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ndows-media-pl

and follow the instructions for Vista. Does that help?

Hello,

Sounds like the Libraries have gotten corrupted.

Close WMP, and then try this tutorial on Rebuilding the WMP Libraries:

Use 3rd party Everything or any similar folder/file finder utility, using song titles you remember, find the folder containing your music. Make a shortcut of that folder to Desktop. Then, knowing where your music is, somehow "re-educate" WMP and WMC. I don't know how to "re-educate", so I will listen in and learn from others.

I did not see the earlier posts for some reason until after I posted, use their advice first, try mine if you want a 2nd door to your music files.

Hi,Wither 2,No,I tried it and it's the same, except it's deleted the new playlists I'd made.(That's not a problem, easy to rebuild)I just want my original playlists and library back!

No,iko22,thanks for the tip,but that didn't work either.WMP still says 'no music in library' and when I try to add music,it still says 'music already in library'.It's a hum-diddly-um-dinger!

Sorry to hear that did not work.

Can you open the Music Library from Windows Explorer?

Earlier I mentioned using explore to find those music files and then create a shortcut...maybe that will "anchor" the music folder, allowing OP to fix WMP, knowing the folder path?
