Unable to boot bcd error - nvme drive on pcie GPT format efi partition
I have somehow broken the bcd file causing windows not to boot.

Ive looked into fixing it but nothings working.

I have narrowed my issue down to probably the fact im booting off the nvme drive through a pcie adapter.

As when I boot into recovery mode i cant even see that drive but I can see it in the bios.

Currently in my bios the boot option #1 is set to windows boot manager

Im guessing thats the efi partition?

Am i somehow able to create a bootable usb with the windows boot manager/new efi partition on it to get it to boot?
Or am i somehow able to get into my efi partition?

I know I have copied files from one windows install to boot another one before but my other pcs arent GPT format so the files arent the same

So i was able to find the nvme drivers and access efi partition in recovery but still wont boot.
I have run
bootrec /RebuildBcd
It says it has found 1 windows installation and wants to add to boot list
Yes/no/all but fails on yes and all

Hello,

What happens if you type
bootrec /ScanOs

does it find any installations?

and type
Diskpart followed by
list disk

does it show any disk connected?
(Type exit to exit Diskpart when finished.)

ok so finally worked it out!

it appears if it had the usb stick plugged into a usb2 port it would try and reinstall windows but if i connected it into a usb3 port it gave me the ability to get into recovery mode?????

i ran a few commands to recreate the bcd file and it worked!

Edit:
the reason it failed to do this before was i was using a windows recovery disc that was setup for MBR not GPT
i had to load the usb bootable GPT UEFI version to be able to fix it. it took a few goes as it didn't work the first time but had a different error when booting so ran the recovery again
manually ran these commands and then done the auto fix as well
bootrec /RebuildBcd
bootrec /Fix boot
