    Problem shutting down!

Hi there, I'm posting a information about whats going on here, so far, my boyfriend LaserWolf is having his windows 7 problem. He running Ultimate, and has a 2.7Ghz cpu- Dual Core, AMD 64-bit, 4GB of rams, stuffs are all good so anyway... also running in 64-bit.

So anytime he try to shut down, it don't shut down properly. It kept saying "shutting down" for like a very long time, and I think I remember one time it has a BSOD. He thinks it might be caused by a program but he don't remember at all, so after he uninstall the program, still having the problem to shut down.

We also run various of anti-virus, malware, spyware program... used Avast! Anti-virus, Malwarebyes Anti-malware, Yahoo!'s CA Anti-spy, Trojan remover, and spybot. Nothing shows up but he says that he has the weird feeling of his computer performance isn't working normally as it suppose to do.

On the boot manager, he also have windows xp, used a program called Tune XP but I don't think it will mess with the shutdown in win7. Been customizing a lot... what we are into.

Any ideas? I don't think replacing the shutdown.exe will fix it.

    Hi.

Yes. It is most likely antivirus hanging or firewall. Uninstall one at a time until you get your answer. Disabling will not help. Must uninstall.

Could also be one of the lesser known softwares installed. The small time stuff, if any, improperly coded.

Does your Tune Up utility have the ability to rollback the changes it's made since installed? If so, get back to Win7 defaults to eliminate it being the problem. All these type apps screw with the registry and troubleshooting the problems they create is a pain and usually not worth the benefits they provide...

On 1 hard drive, have Windows XP & Windows 7. (At first, he had xp, and vista, then he upgrade his vista to 7.)

Ok, the shutdown has be slightly fixed, by using these programs which are Registry Mechanic and System Maintainence (or if that what it was idk). However, the shutdown do take a long time like 30 sec or more.
