    Hello Megahertz07,

Thank You very much for the detailed instructions which I followed meticulously but replacing the letter F for the F Drive [as there is no D Drive] and then restarted my Computer.

What should have been the results of making those changes ?

Should some amount of `Data` have been moved from the Computers C Drive to the F Drive ?

There has been no increase in the C Drive Free space which is currently at 18.8 GB`s - recently when it has not inexplicably dropped by 10 or 12 GB`s the Free space fluctuates between about 18 GB`s and 21 / 22 GB`s.

I was under the impression that your previous suggestion to carry out those changes was so that my Computer`s C Drive free space would be increased as that is the reason why I posted this thread on to the Forum when I could not just move some Pictures and Video Folders from the C Drive to the F Drive to gain a lot more Free space on the C Drive.

I did ask in a couple of my messages to You whether making the changes that you suggested in your first reply to me would create more Free space o the C Drive.

Should I have seen a few GB`s of increase in the C Drive Free space - if not what would be the benefit in making the changes that I have carried out ?

I must mention that after carrying out these changes when I restarted my Computer I received an Error message about my Canon MG4250 Printer - `Quick Menu Driver not present` and the Menu does not work - this is a big problem for me as I use the Scanner quite a lot.

I also received an Error message about my Broadband Meter - `Shaplus Bandwidth Meter` - this is now not working, it has been on my Computer for Years but stopped working when I made these changes - I do want to be able to see what amount of Downloading that I have done in every session of using the Internet.

"...I received an Error message about my Canon MG4250 Printer - `Quick Menu Driver not present` and the Menu does not work - this is a big problem for me as I use the Scanner quite a lot..." Reinstall the scanner/printer drivers and Restart.
"...Broadband Meter - `Shaplus Bandwidth Meter.." Reinstall the utility and Restart.
If those reinstalls and Restarts do not fix -- consider reversing the temp fix, ie, restoring the temp as it was before the changes, you might have to Restart and/or shutdown/powerUp to get things back to working and/or back to where things were.

I am almost ready to suggest: you finding a local computer data recovery guru who can walk you completely through this process: sector-by-sector clone the source drive onto a target drive, verify target folders and files aok, delete OS & 3rd party from target drive, delete folders and files from source drive. If you have not been able to make backups, either full images or folders/files, if anything seriously goes wrong -- you could be looking at "rebuilding Rome after the great Nero fire". Or, if guru charges by the hour, then let him or her do the complete job -- and afterwards, going forward, you take it from there concerning operations and backups.

    Hello again RolandJS,

Thanks for your message - just in case Member Megahertz07 does not see my message for a few days or cannot reply for a few days could You let me know whether the changes that I made - described in the quotes from Megahertz07 in my previous message - should have freed up more Free space on my Computer`s C Drive ?

I mentioned in one of my previous messages that I am retired / a Pensioner so unfortunately there is no way that I could ever afford to pay for a Computer / Computing Expert to come to my Home and resolve the situation of me not being able to move Data / Pictures / Files from my Computer`s C Drive to the F Drive to regain quite a few GB`s of Free space on the C Drive.

Also although I live in London with its vast population I was not able to find a reputable `Mobile Expert` who would do Home visits a few years ago when I wanted help with a previous problem.

I could not find anyone who could be verified as a `Windows Expert` or verified as `Trustworthy` / Honest.

I have previously been Backing up Data from my Computer onto an External Hard Drive by connecting it to the Computer regularly to update what is on the External Hard Drive but to my very limited [almost zero] knowledge that is no help in trying to get the C Drive Free space up to perhaps 40 GB`s.

Thanks again for your interest and messages - could You please help further by answering my question above - I would really appreciate it.

I don't know the answer to that question. Megahertz07 is more wiser and more computer-experienced than I ever will be! We will have await his explanation.
I forgot, did you purchase your computer somewhere in London? If yes, good; if no, maybe still good. Do you have a computer fixit place or business-oriented computer store near your residence? If yes, maybe call and ask: "If I bring in the computer, can your tech-fixit employee make a clone...?" Maybe the cost will not be that great if you bring the situation to them, rather than having them come to the situation.

    Hello again RolandJS,

My Computer was purchased 11 Years ago from a very large multi-product Retail Store - a Company called `Argos` - all UK readers will know the Company.

I mentioned in previous messages that I am `Housebound` which is why my Computer is Vital for my Lifestyle / Life because I use it to order my weekly Food / Grocery Shopping - I have no other way to buy Food etc. so because I am Housebound I would not be able to go out and take my Computer to any Computer Fixit Store or similar facility.

Also the only Companies that I am aware of that offer a `Fixit` service seem to offer only a list of what I am guessing are very basic [although very Technical to the average user] Fixes and in most cases the Computer would be sent out of the Store / off to an offsite `Repair facility`.

There would almost certainly be no `one to one` discussions / liaising between the Computer owner and the Computer Technician just a brief description of what the problem was as interpreted and described by the Store worker - probably not an ideal scenario for all but the most basic problems.

Please do not be frustrated by me seeming to repeatedly reject your suggestions - my physical situation [Housebound] and my lack of knowledge in `Computing` plus my fear that if I attempt anything `too technical` for Me - get something wrong and totally ruin my Computer means that I feel I cannot enter into attempting processes that have any risk of that happening.

Being without my Computer would literally `Ruin my Life` as I have no other way to buy Food / Groceries

Thanks again for trying to help.

I am not in the least bit frustrated at all! :) Exploration of possible options is just that -- exploration. Eventually, we might hit upon a solution set. :)

    Hello All,

As I mentioned in my first message when posting this thread I had previously `Copied & Pasted` the contents of my Computer`s Library `Pictures` and `Videos` Folders into the almost empty F Drive but after doing so I realised that would not set future Pictures / Files / Videos to be put into the F Drive automatically so I did not delete those Folders from the C Drive `Library`which I assume would have freed up a large amount of GB`s in the Free space ?

I am attaching a Screenshot of the C Drive `Library` list so that you can see what I mean regarding the `Pictures` and `Videos` Folders that I Copied & Pasted the contents from to the F Drive.

Something that I found strange when I did those `Copy & Paste` transfers was that there seemed to be almost exactly the same amount of Data in both of the copies - almost exactly 34 GB`s on each - although one was supposed to be only `Pictures` and the other only `Videos`.

Because I have those copies of my Pictures and Videos already on the F Drive I was wondering if there was a method of setting the default destination for future Pictures and Videos to be on the F Drive.

If that could be done and I then deleted the Pictures and Videos Folders in the C Drive Library [see attached Screenshot of C Drive `Library` list] should that free up that amount of space on the C Drive ?

Also would I be able to create new `Pictures` and `Videos` Folders on the C Drive Library list just to replace the deleted ones ?

I would need `Step by Step instructions` please so that I cannot accidentally make a mistake and cause further problems.

    Thank You for reading this.

    Hello Megahertz07,

Thanks again for helping me previously on this thread - I carried out the changes that You suggested
[listed above] a couple of weeks ago.

I am now hoping to merge the C Drive and the F Drive on my Computer to make just ONE large capacity C Drive so I am guessing that the changes that You suggested listed above that I carried out will have to be changed again because if I can carry out that C Drive change there will be no F Drive [there is no D Drive].

Please excuse me if this is a `stupid question` but should I revert those changes back to the C Drive before I merge the F Drive and the C Drive ?

    Thanks again.
