SHIFT + Select: no longer working?

In Windows Explorer, the classical selection scheme: SHIFT + select first item > select last item and all files in-between are selected IS NO LONGER WORKING?

    CTRL+ Selection still is.

It is general, or only in my system?

BTW: I activated the 'use check box to select' (Control Panel > Folders)

still working here, with checkboxes turned both off and on. try turning them off, then restarting. If that fixes it, turn them back on and restart and see if it is fixed. Does your shift key in general work? Maybe try the right side shift key.
Dumb answers I know, but its often the simplest things that work when it comes to solving weird things.

    Hy g'day!

Tks for the prompt reply. But I've been there, done that. Both keys (both working), the same

From Day One, I noticed this quirk. Just recently I configured the 'Check Box' selection... and the problem continues

All other SHIFT functions (SFT+Delete, SFT+Tab etc.), but 'select-first-last', are working as expected, on both left and right keys.

Curiously, I just opened Windows XP Mode (Windows Virtual PC, running inside Win7) and 'SHIFT+ select first > select last' WORKS AS EXPECTED!

    WTF?
