Dual boot xp/7 cause I have two monitors and microsoft decided that individual user accounts don't require separate display settings...
Are you saying that two user accounts can't have dual displays with different resolutions per account? example, User 1 1680x1050 x2 and User 2 with 1440x900 x2?

If you are running LCD monitors, it's always best to run them at their native resolutions.
    User 1, User 2

I have not been able to disable monitor 2 on User 2 without it being also disabled on User 1.

I've retired Windows 7 on my ultra-portable laptop in favour of Ubuntu because I need better wireless performance with my "n" card and better battery life. (Also you can't exactly game on a 12.1" WXGA with an Intel 4500M!)

But the only reasons I can think of why I would retire it on my desktop are:

    1. If it gave me ANY problems whatsoever over "Activation" on MY computer, with MY legally bought Win 7 Ultimate.

    2. If I stop gaming (or go back to XBox360 ) because then I won't have any need/use for Windows.

    3. If I get fed up of the non-free, closed and proprietary nature of the OS and the limitations that that brings.

    4. If I get any nasty viruses despite using anti-virus software, 2 anti-spyware apps. and a standard user account, with a really strong password on the root account. (Not likely, I know.)

    Mark.
Why would you presuppose you'd have issues activating it?? I did 5 installs and nary an issue.

Limitations? Like access to the preponderance of software for the vast majority of users??

Viruses? Sheesh, I've been using PC's since 1985, have 5 going between my wife and I, online all the time, and NO VIRUSES. Virus talk reminds me of the crap that Apple lovers bring up, to defend their choice in hardware. IF you have a decent virus program (many are FREE), you shouldn't be kept up nights worrying about problems that won't occur. Or are you visiting clandestine sites??? LOL! There are some corners of the 'net that deservedly provide all the viruses you'll ever "need".
Calm down. I wholeheartedly apologize if my personal opinions/thoughts/ideas offended you on a personal level. (I can't think of any other reason why you would be so defensive, unless your 12 years old, or your parents were killed by another OS and you swore revenge Batman style.:) )

As part of the healing process repeat after me: "It's just an operating system. It means nothing. It's just a tool."

Those are the only reasons I can think of why I personally would swap OSs again, it doesn't mean that I think they will all happen immediately. I am perfectly happy with Windows 7 on my desktop at the moment.

Activation issues? From the Windows website:

When you make a significant hardware change to your computer, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time, you might be required to activate Windows again.
Limitations of closed source: Steve Hargadon: What Are the Limitations of Proprietary Software? I like to tinker.

Viruses: Did you see the (Not likely, I know.) at the end of the sentence? That means that it's not something I anticipate. Why does it offend people that there are no viruses in the wild for Linux and not many for Mac OS X? Also should I be scared to use the Internet just incase I run into one of these sites?

Anyway, please don't take this post to heart. Mark.

You hardly needed to quote anything from the MS website to me. I'm familiar with that and more. Again, just WHY do you worry about activation issues? Did you grow up to be fearful of things that in all likelihood never occur?? I hope you don't live in California, because we just MIGHT fall into the ocean some day...

I hear "Beach front" property in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas is selling nicely now for occupation within the next 50 years.

According to the HTTP headers, "Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5"
This server is either Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 come with IIS 7.0 while the former is IIS 7.5. However, HTTP headers can be forged.
