    Leaving a screen section magnified

The instructions seem to say that an area of the screen can be selected to be permanently in the magnifier lens. I can get the desired area to be magnified, but when I move the mouse, the lens moves with it. How can I decouple the mouse from the chosen area (without stopping the magnification) ?

Alternatively, can I get a desktop shortcut kind of tool where I can turn on magnification with just a click (and likewise turn it off again)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it can be achieved with the integrated tool.

    Try this tool:

Virtual Magnifying Glass Portable (screen magnifier) | PortableApps.com

Right click on the icon in the tray, and choose dynamic.
Then press CTRL + ALT + M when the mouse is in the area you want to remain zoomed.

I've changed my mind about the concept - while I want a particular area of the DESKTOP to be magnified, I realise I do NOT want that area magnified when I am playing a video, for example.
