Can't copy files from external HDD to internal.

I don't seem to be able to copy my "Music" folder from my external HDD to my internal. No prompts for permission or anything come up, just nothing happens?

I'm trying to drag and drop the folder using Windows Explorer.

    Mark.

Try this, make a new folder on your external. Put the old folder in the new, then try to transfer. Hope it works, good luck..

Nope. The new folder won't transfer either? Thank you for the suggestion though.

Do you have the send to prompt when you right click. If so, try send to desk top first.

I'm trying to copy the folder from my 320gb external to my 250gb secondary internal. That's all I want to do.

I have full read and write permissions for both drives.

Can you make the new folder on new drive, go into the folder on external drive, select all and copy then paste to new folder new drive?

Trying plugging into a different USB port if you are using a USB drive, the ports on the back of the computer usually work best. You can also try changing the drive letter. There are steps outlined in this thread that may help you. External HD No Longer Works With Computer

Someone else fixed the problem by doing this,...
“I had a similar problem. went to the properties for my ext hdd through device manager and changed the removal policy from the default quick removal to better performance and everything is working well now.
hope this helps some off you.”

I'd tried all that and it didn't work. I can access the drive as usual and play music, watch videos on it et cetera. It's just when I try to copy my Music (or my Video folder for that matter) it just doesn't do anything. Usually the folder appears on the new drive and the copy dialogue box appears, but nothing happens when I do it.
