Can't copy files from external HDD to internal.

    how about open another account, give permission to that account for full access to folder in question and then try from there?

    Did you install the HP drivers or let windows update do your chipset drivers?

    Does HP have win7 chipset drivers for your machine? If so I'd install those and see what happens.
