    Explorer Copy/Paste - Possible Sequential Insted of Parallel Option?


    Is it possible to make the Explorer's copy/paste function work in parallel when multiple instances of use are initiated? Example -- if I wanted to bulk transfer multiple sets of items from one (or more) HDD disk to another, each being placed in different directories. It would be helpful if these could be queued for unattended transfer while not overworking the HDD with overlapping transfers or having to wait for completion of one operation before inputting another.

    Might there be another software with this function?

    My first question is why would be important to run them sequentially instead of in paralel?

    While multiple simultaneous copy operations won't be faster (as the bottleneck is the disk I/O) they'll all eventually finish, with the very same result that a one-after-another operation. My suggestion for a lot of file copies would be to launch them all and leave the thing overnight or on any other downtime so that you pick the finish result afterwards.

    If you really want a sequential operation you could write a small bat file with a bunch of COPY commands. They'll be launched each only after the completion of the previous one.

Explorer copy/move option

A long time ago, in an app, far, far away, there was an app called XTree(Gold) that would let you copy/move -only- newer files, globally so you wouldnt have to constantly answer Yes. I hoped MS would've made this a copy/move option for only newer files/same name with 7 (or with any other OS)....
Using the "new" version of windows explorer or "my computer" I want to use delete/copy/paste/cut etc buttons in a tool bar on the top. The only way I can see to do this now is to click "organize" for a drop down menu. Am I missing something?
