Needed services?

    Needed services?


    I am looking to ‘clean up’ my computer by stopping and/or disabling services that are not needed. This leads to two questions:
    1. Is the service wuaserv, the Windows Update service, needed anymore? Since MS does not support Windows 7 any longer, I cannot imagine that anything the service does would be useful.
    2. Is there a website, or whatever, that lists services that are no longer needed? If so, would someone kindly point me to it.

    It is safer to set a service entry on Manual instead of on Disabled.
    This way, it can start when needed.

    Some service entries need to be kept on Automatic, so be careful which ones you change.
    If you disable crucial services, you can wind up with a non-working PC or a messed up display.

    From what I heard, the Black Viper services configuration site stopped being maintained about 8 - 9 years ago.

    Here is the services configuration list for Windows 7 which is listed at the archives.org site:
