Solved Removing account with a forgotten password

Hi guys, I was given an old laptop, HP running Windows 7. Belongs to my housemate who worked for this company some 15 years ago. They gave them new equipment later, so they didn't want this laptop back when he was leaving. For all these years it was not used and of course he no longer remembers the password.
Hiren's boot disc didn't work. Took it to a PC repair shop, the lady said since this was Windows 7 and a work domain account, they couldn't help.
I don't understand these things, just wanted to check, is it really not possible to remove the old account or remove the password? Because the laptop is otherwise in a great condition.
Thank you very much!

I would like to help you, however it is against the forum rules to help with passwords.
If you had more than 1 post I could send a private message with some links.

What is the exact model of the laptop ?

One way is to clean install. If he hasnt used it for 15 years presumably there is nothing on there he needs.

It is probably entitled to win7 pro using either the coa sticker or slp.

Shouldnt be difficult to install win7 pro on it.

You could boot up a winpe from usb stick that contains some system info program and find out exactly what it is.

If it was connected to a domain it's likely enterprise and you can see that on the login screen. In that case it's probably been deactivated and you won't be able to activate it. Also they probably deactivated his domain account if he's no longer with the company so his password would be useless. Your best bet is probably a full reinstall especially if it says enterprise on the login screen.
