    motherbooard upgrade

i have 7 pro installed on my old rig, intel pen 4 on a ASUS p5gd1-vm motherboard. everything is working fine. i want to upgrade my processor to the i5, and so i need a new motherboard. was looking at the Intel DP55WG, but the product guide says it only supports home and ultimate

    Call Intel and ask.

    Could be incomplete list.

Ask them to check, not guess.

That is very peculiar. It says the board only supports Home Basic and Ultimate--not even the very popular Home Premium.

Intel is normally very careful about its documentation. If I had to guess, I would guess this is an error.

I would contact Intel support by email for confirmation.

There is a reviewer at New Egg using the similar WB model that says he is running Win 7 Pro.

thanks guys, but i've changed my mind. i'm going to go with the ASUS P7P55D PRO. my old asus served me for many years and seems like lots of people have used it for a 7 system.

I've tried lots of stuff over the years. Give Gigabyte a look too.

High quality components last longer. DAMHIK.

Gigabyte's Ultra Durable series mobo's are great - go for the P55 UD3P, it uses less power then ASUS. I can't see the point of Intel's ones - not many features as compared to other brands.
