Minimized programs icons missing

    Minimized programs icons missing


    All of a sudden running programs that I have minimized no longer have an icon on the task bar so that I can open them up when needed. I have to go to the task manager to get to them. Not sure what I did but I can't seem to get them to display on the task bar again.

    Advice much appreciated.

    What programs? Are they in the system tray?

    They are programs such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, Open Office etc. also folders such as Utilities etc. No they do not appear in the system tray.

    I fixed it by doing a system restore from 2 days ago. I have no idea why this happened but the restore point restore repaired the problem.

Does minimizing a program to the Task Bar and leaving it there for the day, using it off and on, use up more resources than we might suspect? I generally minimize Thunderbird and keep it open all day which makes it handy. Would it be wiser to close it after each use? Thank you.
