    There is an option to switch these thumbnails by using Gpedit.msc, if available in your version of Windows 7, (User - Administrative Templates - Start & Taskbar- last entry).

    However It states vista only so not sure if it works with win7

    Group policy will normally require a log-on, log-off for user settings or a reboot for computer items.

    Have also seen some discussion of a reg hack for this but can't place it at the moment - will post back if i find anything :)

    Nope, didn't;t work.

    I think that for the preview in Windows Explorer above the status bar.

    Assuming that the previews we are discussing here are the ones on the windows taskbar - as shown in the image uploaded.


    Have a look at this site which claims to have solved it - Not tried myself so cannot confirm ...

    Nope, that didn't work,. but I'll try logging of and back on again,. but it shouldn't be necessary under the Current user branch,.

    The rs also a DeskopPrieview that might do tyhe trick,. It;s;s set to 0,. I;ll cgange it ti 1
