Bummer whats the Best Buy equivalent? I'm sure you must have a store like it? Don't you?

    Maybe this helps:

Really if you can get a new enclosure it pretty easy to swap our the drives.

Ok sorry to hear that, how about ordering a new enclosure off the net? You just have to take the other one apart and verify whether its a SATA drive or an IDE drive. If you look at the link I posted the picture shows the two different types of drives. The top one is SATA and the bottom is IDE make sure the enclosure supports the drive. You will also need a screw driver.

    IDE:

Newegg.com - KINGWIN BJK-35USBI Aluminum alloy 3.5" Black USB 2.0 External Enclosure - External Enclosures

    SATA

Newegg.com - Nippon Labs Silver 3.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure for SATA I and SATA II Hard Drive Model NL-35USB-SL - External Enclosures

You might want to read some of the reviews and verify 7 compatibility.

    Hi Susan :)

The tech guy is right,a driver is normally not required as it's plug & play.

Is the drive recognised in Vista?

If so, i suggest using testdisk to recover your data.

Thanks for helpful reply. Before I upgraded to Windows 7 I did the Upgrade Advisor with the hard drive plugged in and it said it was compatible,
