I shared an office with a guy whose desk was covered with stuff. He had a dummy hand grenade, three pictures of his wife, a deskset, and other stuff. My desk had my laptop and my daytimer. That was it.

It's much the same with my computer. My desktop is clear, waiting for me to work. If I want to know the local weather I'll look outside.

There is nothing on my desktop. After installing windows, UAC gets disabled, and then gadgets/sidebars whatever it is you call them.

My desktop has no icons. I know where everything is in my PC. I even disable the search feature.

    Jimbo45,

I to like minimal items on my desktop. I have not seen any need for a Gadget.

What I don't like about the gadgets is that they were resized when I adjusted my Display settings.
They became too large and I was unable to make them smaller!

    Same!

I don't use any of them, just useless tools that you don't really need. CPU and memory-eaters too!

I don't need to restore them, I would like to make them smaller.

Very nice clean look. Wonder what it uses in RAM tho compared to the same/similar Win7 Gadgets. My memory of Yahoo Widgets is they were more stable than Vista but nothing is as stable as Win7 gadgets - one year now without a hiccup.
its quite hungry i see its 7.700k,7,492 yahoo
    31,584k objectdock
    7,804k rainlendar
    Sidebar 8500k
    StikyNotes 1100k

Stable and low on resource consumption.
