    Question about unziping files

I use flight simulation alot of the time. I download airplanes from different websites the planes are zipped in rar files. I use winrar to unzip them however I try to unzip the planes to the aircraft file and get an error message. If I unzip it to the desktop it works then I have to drag it over to the aircraft file. I have also did this problem with other things that comes zipped. I am the only user of this laptop and the administrator.

Anybody know how to fix this?

    Thanks mike

I assume the location you tried to unzip them too, is in "Program Files". However, that is a system protected directory, you are not allowed to write files there without administrative privileges. You do not have those privileges without accepting a UAC prompt or launching an application as Admin.

Extracting to the desktop then dragging them over is honestly the best course of action.

7zip was did not work but I did not try to run it as admin yet. I normally just send it to desktop just worndering if there was a faster way and to make sure I am not stupid by missing something.

    Thanks for the help.

7-zip didn't work? Its superior to WinRar - open source too.

Uhhhh....the problem is not Winrar or 7zip....the problem is lack of permissions!

I was wondering that too. I always wondered why we needed YAFCP to squeeze 2kb out on occasion? If it ignored permissions...maybe.

You won't be able to - can't you run the app as admin and extract to C:\ - where you installed the app?
