I hate W7 for one reason!

Yes I can save but not modify files. Its like this over my entire storage drive.

When I try to change the permissions on the storage drive, I get errors. I'm ready to say screw this and go back to XP. Its not just an adobe problem. I can't modify anything no matter what application I use if the file is on my storage drive.

You are saving files to an external drive? Format the drive as NTFS once you back up the files on it, and then save the file to your C:\ drive. Copy it across.

How do I take ownership Barman...simply going in and changing permissions doesn't work...I get denied.

This was simply the storage drive (inside the computer) that I used for XP. I just unplugged the drive when installing a clean W7 install. Then plugged it back in and it immediately recognized the drive...but no modify permissions.

Why then does XP simple file sharing have the same locked file/folder issue?

I do this on every install I perform of a windows OS using NTFS data partitions and I can assure you it works :)

How do I take ownership of the drive? Are you saying I have to reformat??

This is what everyone of my drives say, authenticated Users, and I have no problems.
