    can anyone help?


    hi, i have this desktop computer (my old computer) and it has windows xp installed on it i want to upgrade it but after about 30mins or so the computer goes black the computer is still on and its not the screen i think it could be a hardware problem would wiping the hard drive and re-formating it help or not?

    please help any advice would be great! thnaks!!

    I would second Reghakr's post. You are running out of disk space during install on that 80G drive.

    No one can say for sure. It won't hurt to try,, just remember,, you will lose all data on the drive.

    If you ahve it backed up, or don't care about the data,, then you are better off formatting the drive during the setup process. I think it is Drive options on the screen you choose the drive to install too. It is bottom right, i think.

    I would also like to point out that the 80G drive,, is pretty small, you will want to consider a larger drive at some point. That 80G will go pretty quick once you start loading software, games, updates, and other files.

    ok so how much would i cost to buy a new hard drive and is it easy to install a new hard drive?
