You'll find many of the experts around here consider the free AV solutions superior in every way.

After doing 100+ installs of Avast free home with no viruses or issues, it is hard to seriously consider a bloaty paid solution which is approached as an infection to remove, and even requires a special removal tool like malware.

Superior until you have to remove a infection , so with your 100 + installs now many infections have you had ? Sorry but for the business I can not afford to have ANY infections .. Everyone to him or herself but I feel comfortable using the Norton 2010 anti-virus / spyware programs .. Bloaty - is that even a word ?? Maybe Bloated ??

That is good info - I will seriously check out Avast free home , but can you use this for a business ??

Businesses shouldn't depend on free AV products. Businesses "need" centralized AV products which can be controlled and updated by the IT staff.

I look after 30 computers and I have them running like a well oiled machine now , all are limited access and I can see what every computer is trying to access . Stop problems before they happen ..

Are you trying to recover files from the same hard drive that your OS resides on?

I had used Norton a few years back and did dump it because of the heavy load on the system. However I Beta tested Norton Internet Security 2010 and it is indeed a decent solution with a very small footprint and at least in Arizona I can pickup Norton for less than $20 and NIS 2010 also has more to offer than just protection. My father was using AVG and was swearing by it until his computer got infected bad. Spent hour trying to clean it out. Better to spend a few bucks for the piece of mind and security to handle the more sophistocated malware and crap that is out there.
