    Forgot my password - help!!!

Ok, I forgot my password, and I'm using the tutorial from the following website to reset my password: Offline NT Password & Registry Editor

Only problem is, I've gotten down to the section in the walkthrough that asks for the path to the registry directory. I've tried pressing enter for the default path, but it keeps asking me the same question. What do I do?

When using that particular tool you have to be sure that you are working with the correct partition, particularly with OEM systems where there may be recovery partitions that are often treated as default by the tool, but do not contain registry information.

Re-run the tool and select one of the other Disk/Partition options, it should then work,at this point with the default option, when the correct partition is selected

you would be surprised how often clients will suddenly remember their forgotten password, especially when told that they will be charged for the service

Glad to see you're up and running , maybe now is a good time to create a password reset disk

Yea, I can just imagine. It comes to them pretty quick............This may not be the best security in the world, but I put my passwords on a word document with an obscure file name in with my other word docs. You always have them then, unless you forget the obscure file name
