In the dialog box you'll see three options - choose the option that is for best performance or untick every box and reboot. Are you still in advanced system properties?

No, I'm not. When I couldnt find anything associated (as far as I could tell) with the preview window, I closed it.

I'm just going to stick with the suggestion of upping the delay time between the hover and it showing up, thanks.

It would be interesting to see if that would do it . . . but if you are satisfied mark this thread as solved via the exclamation mark.

Can you post a screenshot? Search for snip in the start menu.

Y'know that preview that appears when you hover your mouse over an icon in your task bar?

I'd like it to go away.

Turning off Aero doesnt do it, so if some one knows how to do it, please let me know. I HATE that preview window!!!
You can use the Group policy Editor to turn off the taskbar previews.

    Start > gpedit.msc
    Left pane, click User Configuration
    Right pane, Administrative Templates
Right pane, Start Menu and taskbar
At the bottom double click Turn off taskbar thumbnails
Set to enabled, apply, ok, reboot.

Wish I could say "I love you" and "you rock", rsvr..... but that didnt work. I did it wrong the first time, corrected it.... and I'm still getting it.

    ACWIN

Doing it through the Group Policy Editor doesn't work, that was only for Vista.

Have you tried to right the Registry Editor and Run as Admin and then perform the tweak?

Also, I think you need to log off or do a reboot for the edit to take effect.

Know I gotta reboot, did so. Didnt do anything.

If you're talking about the suggestion you offered on the first page, yes. I did that. Keeps switching back to hexidecimal and wont stay on decimal no matter how many times I go in and hit "okay", then log off and log on.

    Nothing is sticking.
