I'll second that. Even worse, there are universities running an 8 yr old OS, not to mention companies.

OK, I am finally through with this thread

Actually I preferred 2000, XP has plenty of features I am not fond of, this is not about an unwilling or inability to change, it is about interjecting change without an option (or at least an easy one), I stand by my statement that "Libraries" were created for those that did not have the ability to organize data - or those that have several low capacity drives scatted throughout a system and need a "central organizer" for them this is probably the greatest function ever created.

As for me being the only thread on the web, there are 352 separate threads on this site similar to my original question.

I will never store data on the C:/ - I have 3 PCs on my home network and a 4Tb NAS with neat organization into separate files/folders.

My PCs are portals to data not the caretaker, I will always organize my data myself I like Windows 7, I just wanted the option of libraries to be an ON/OFF function, so instead of listening to those that state I should like the function, I have listened to those that do not and have elected to not use the W7 explorer altogether.

So for now I will use this on the W7 box:

Because it thinks the way I do or at least a bit closer, at least now I am in control of my situation instead of being told how I should think.

It seems to me there is another word for an entity that has determined that I can no longer think for myself.

Using the Windows Classic theme, can the 'All Programs' & 'Search' (which is useless) be completely removed from the Start Menu? I'm talking about the entry All Programs bar and the Search entry, or can the useless MS Search be replaced with one of the many substitutes? I do not mean the Search...
Changing the "minimize" "maximize" and "close" buttons of a theme
Ok so I'm using a custom visual style made by another user however I don't really like the buttons used that I mentioned above. The creator states it is acceptable to change the theme to however you like as long as you don't redistribute it anywhere. Ok so I opened up the .msstyles file (using...
BSOD every few hours: mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "c00021a" & "c0000135"
Hi everyone! Yesterday my HP laptop (Windows 7) started getting BSOD with various types of errors (mostly "STOP: 0x00000F4", "STOP: 0x0000007A", "c00021a" and one "missing %hs, c0000135"). Most of the time it restarts without any issues and works fine right after the BSOD and then an hour or two...

Need to add "TASKBARS" (MSese for "Launchpads", "Docks" NOT "Toolbars"
My office just upgraded, and I can no longer use Windows XP. On this system, I was able to add a separate taskbar to facilitate quick access to commonly-browsed folder locations on our vast network, and another one expedited the launching of useful programs and lists. Each task on each taskbar...

clicking "insert picture" it always defaults back to "large icons"
When I go to insert a picture in a certain program the "picture services" window pops up. I go to choose the "icon size" for my photos and it will not remember the selection, "medium icons" for the size of my photos in the selection window. It always reverts back to "large icons". I can only see...
