Question about changing to Windows 7?

Okay, the laptop I have did not come with a Windows Vista reinstall disk and nothing on my computer is working. The internet says that it is connected but I can't surf the web because it comes up with a message saying "failed to connect". I have searched the internet on my desktop for help and none of the suggestions worked.

My question is, can I get 7 on my desktop (which the internet works on for some odd reason), save it to a hard drive and then install it on my laptop?

I need an answer asap! I wanted to ask before I spent the money on it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Leslie

Yes, but I'm not sure of a particular download source that would be better than another, except the one that I used, which was the MS store. You will need to burn it to either a flash drive or DVD to boot the laptop from for the installation.

    Hi Leslie,

    A few questions for you...

What do you mean by "nothing is working"? Why do you need to install Windows 7 from a flash or hard drive - can't you just install using a Windows 7 DVD you'd buy at the store, or order online from your desktop? Does your laptop not have a functioning DVD drive?

If you do end up needing to install Windows 7 from a flash drive or DVD, download Microsoft's USB/DVD Download Tool: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
