I got a new laptop with widows 7. I was going to install system machanic pro 9.5. But somthin happened and i cant uninstall norton. How do i reset the laptop to how it was when i first started it, where i have to enter the comp name and all?
Your laptop should have come with instructions on how to use either recovery discs or a recovery partition to restore back to factory settings. More than likely, you will also see an option to do this as the laptop boots up. Normally you will be required to press one of the F keys (different manufacturers use different ones) to start the process. Restart the laptop and watch the screen for recovery options.
You can also download the Norton Removal Tool. This way you don't have to worry about re-starting your entire installations. If that doesn't work, post the manufacturer/model info of your laptop and one of us can post instructions on how to recover your laptop to factory state. I think that's a dramatic thing to do when you can simply remove the Norton product with a few clicks.
