    intel c2d e7200 2.53ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd, nvidia
    Os: windows xp sp2 & windows7
    geforce 7200gs

    Hi,just to see if anything changes ,turn off (write cache- buffer flushing) in Device Manager >disk drives>Policies ,and re run the WEI,let us know if there is any change, afterwards you can turn it back on.

    Also I forgot to mention,make sure you have the latest driver for your video card ,in case you haven't.

    Can you re-run the assessment and let us know when it fails (make a note of the stage reached, as shown below). The point at which it fails will help us to pinpoint a likely cause for the failure.

    the assessment completes but just when it finishes i get the error. And about the driver, i installed the latest vista driver for my graphic card, i had read about it in a post. i guess thats when this problem stsrted. i ran the assessment when i had the driver from windows update n it had worked fine

    I had this problem with my graphic card drivers with more than 4gb of memory. I know you only have 2gb but it still may be causing a problem. You could uninstall the graphic card drivers and take out a stick of RAM, then reinstall your drivers, then put the other stick back in and try again. If you say the windows drivers worked fine, then why not just go with them?

    Check out the link I posted, it points to the nvidia beta drivers specific for this... it should correct the issue.
