New Windows 7 install and computer freezes

    Hello,

I have just reinstalled a version of Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1 and my PC is freezing after some time. I have to reboot to be able to work again. I have almost no programs installed.

I don't know what is causing the freezes. Is there any tool to be able to diagnose it?

    Thanks

    1. Get windows PE, it is free but you have to make them. You need another working computer to make it.
    2. Boot the problematic computer with windows PE.
    3. Check your Harddisk. (check if there is a bad sector)

If there is no bad sector, then the problem can your hardware or windows ISO file.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have 3 hard disks and this is the second hard disk I try and I also tried two different windows versions and I have the same freezing...

So I suppose the problem is in my hardware, but how to know which one? I have a double boot with Linux and it works with no problems at all...

    Any other clues?

If Linux runs fine then its a problem with your Win7 install or the HD it's on if by itself.

Go over the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to test the HD, then check over your WIn7 install.

Compare the install you did with the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 especially how drivers are handled best in Win7 which is not at all like XP.

Let us know how it goes. The results of a particular step may indicate other steps needed.
