Vista type bugs in Windows 7??

Hi all. Having purchased Windows Vista Home Premium x64 early last year and being very disappointed with silly annoying bugs in the OS, I was wondering if Microsoft have actually carried some of these bugs onto Windows 7 aswell?

One of my main annoyances was when I had Windows Explorer shortcut icon on the desktop. I set the properties on this to always open window maximised, and of course it hardly ever did. It basically kept 'forgetting'!! This bug has never been sorted. There was other things too, but I won't go on about them.

My main reason for worry is that from what I have read Windows 7 is basically Vista but been adapted/changed about. If so, silly bugs like above probably still exist. In which case this may well put me off purchasing Windows 7 when it comes out. I can actually get hold of the 7048 build if I wish and have a look around, but to be honest, I don't want to remove my current installation of XP ( went back to XP from Vista ), just to have a look. I don't have a spare HD to hand at the moment.

What is everyone's honest opinion on Windows 7. Is it looking good or what?

    Fantastic from my perspective.

I love windows 7, I never used vista however, so I missed all the fun.
I was on XP and loved it, but I won't go back. Almost zero bugs at this point, but I might of been lucky. Punkbuster is slowing down my gaming online fun, but we are all working around that, I've managed to get a fix for call of duty 5, so I'm good!

The one thing you might like is the feedback button. If a simple bug like that hits you can send microsoft a note the very moment it happens.

I was fearful of Windows 7 being much like vista, in the bugs department, but I am happy to report, at least for me, I will be buying this OS when it releases.

I would give the beta a try!

Thanks for that mate. You have certainly pushed me now towards giving it a go! I did have a quick look at the 7000 build when it first came about. I registered for the beta key too. Would this key validate build 7048 too?
If so, I 'may' spend an hour or so tonight installing it!

I would assume so since they are the same OS, but I can not be definate, since I am on 7000.

You can still get beta keys here:

Windows 7 Beta Customer Preview Program

I would suggest going here for the latest on everything, use this invite ID Win7-3HQW-RF74 and you can still get access to download windows 7 beta:

    Microsoft Connect

Have fun! If you have any problems, post here on the forums, lots of experience in here, all of us are friendly, no matter how simple the question.

    Much appreciated mate.
Nice to have someone like yourself offering their experience, rather than just listening to general 'hype'. ( Like I did with Vista! )

    No problem!

To be honest, I think microsoft did a great thing for themselves releasing this public beta, I've been paranoid about purchasing OS's since windows ME, its nice to see how it will run with all its features, like a long test drive.

Windows 7 will be a very good release for Microsoft, but please don't make it your primary OS, as it is still in Beta form.
If you can install it, please do, cause the best opioion you will receive, is your own.

Yes mate. I'm going to source another hard drive, and I think I might invest in a couple of hard drive caddies for my system. That way I can hot swap drives as and when. I don't want a dual boot.

Have got a copy of Windows 7 x64 Build 7048 at the ready!

You pair have got me all excited now!! lol.
